Websites that support communities of practice
William van den Ende posted this really nice diagram that helps to think about the relationship between websites, users, conferences and content. I’m working with a number of clients at the moment who are struggling to marry their work to the web, and especially to the social web. THey are all not-for-profit organizations (or for-benefit, as I have started saying). This diagram is very helpful, if for no other reason than it gives us a context in which to offer specific conversations.
This is very helpful as I’m just stepping into web design and going to be redesigning Redwire’s website to make it more of a tool for communication for native youth. Being a 18 year old digital-native (Digital native being someone who intuitively knows the digital word like breathing. It’s a contrast to digital-immigrants, who immigrated to the digital sphere), I see the beauty and effectiveness of the internet. What this communications tool has done for indigenous resistance and spreading our voice as indigenous. Something I feel can be vitalized even more.
Anyways, thanks for this.
This is a super map of the connections – thanks for making it available
This is brilliant, Chris!
I was excited to find it so affirming of what I know to be true from my own work, and love that you posted it. Thank you!
Nice model, kind of reminds me of what Open Source software like Drupal et al is trying to accomplish under a unified interface.
