Worry and presence

December 28, 2008 By Chris Corrigan Uncategorized 2 Comments

With no future there is no worry.   If we are truly present in this moment, the story we hold about the future drops away and with it goes worry.

Beautifully put Chris. I immediately think of the tarot.

The five of disks. In Angeles Arrien’s commentary, the fives of each suit are “tests of faith” we encounter in life. Five swords, fear of defeat; five cups, disappointment; five wands, anxiety; five disks, worry. Worry keeps us in the ‘what-ifs’ or ‘if-onlys’ rather than the present moment.

A resource we can draw upon is the archetype of the Heirophant, major arcana 5, who learns and teaches a mastery of faith – in the deeper parts of ourselves, in our own intuitive capacities to handle what arises, in our child-like curiosity, and our faith in family and other relationships of love, with whom we can handle what arises together.

When i read this I was worried sick about my 25 day old grandaughter that might need a heart transplant. I began to feel in my own body dis-ease. I didn’t like this sensation. So I moved instead to the notion of floating with whatever the wave brings in. I was then bouyed and instantly stopped fighting. In turn she had an operation on her heart valve which wasn’t as serious. I in turn felt that I had had the valve operation opening to what is…I lked your comment. I feel like I have and continue to live it.
