Ritual for hope

December 26, 2008 By Chris Corrigan Uncategorized 3 Comments

My friend Thomas Arthur is ensconed on San Juan Island and has decided to charter a personal ritual of hope.   From Solstice to Obama’s inauguration, he is making a short video a day and posting them when he can at his Vimeo page.

What are YOU doing to ring in the changes and see that they take root?

Thanks, Chris. I’m gazing out at a pair of eagles soaring above the cove in the cold rain, hunting or playing or showing off. I’m a stone’s throw away from a steep bluff down to the the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Wow! Another huge eagle just floated up from below my line of sight, gliding on the strong wind. What a blessing and an inspiration to be here.

Ashley Cooper and I have been seeding the idea of creating a daily personal ritual in the days leading to Obama’s inauguration. This seems to be a good time for humans to ride some wild waves of personal and cultural transformation in service to profound, intelligent change. Maybe we should pop out a page for a New-Year’s-Day-to-Inauguration ritual and invite wider engagement. For the moment, if anyone is on Facebook and wants to join the ritual, hop on over to the Solstice to Inauguration page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=39793744871

It occurs to me that I will be in Hawaii on inauguration day. That’s cool, watching the native son take his oath.

As a women of many races, backgrounds, languages and talents – my tradition, from Solstice onward is to again reflect upon my soul, my mind, my ambitions and recognize again all that is without. In this great time of need for all Nations, I am blessed, but only to be a blessing to others. There isn’t a choice for me to do otherwise…there simply is…

As I grow in what I hope is maturity, there comes a time to walk beyond what is know, or seen… and just believe that my Nation of the United States of America can and will grow, internally and externally, without the misalignment of a political minuete…

God Speed Mr. Barak Obama …and all hope in your walk to the Oval Office!
